In a tight game it was the Detroit Iron Gloves 5, the Burbank Tigers 3 at the
ballpark.
Detroit brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning. The
critical plate appearance was by Jay Bruce who excited the crowd when he
doubled scoring two baserunners. Burbank was out-hit by Detroit, 11 hits to
6.
The win went to Jason Frasor(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Francisco
Rodriguez got the save, his 2nd. Nick Blackburn(1-3) was charged with the
loss. He gave up 5 runs and 9 hits in 7 innings.
Detroit continued their winnings ways improving their record to a division
leading 14-7. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. Wes Davies was pretty
down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something
like 2-8 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
